Metal Detection for Tubular Packaged Products

Metal Detection for Tubular Packaged Products

CEIA offers a variety of market-leading metal detection systems for the pharmaceutical industry. We have covered those designed for bottling lines and tablets in previous articles. In this feature, we introduce a further variant designed specifically for the inspection of tubular packaged products and sanitary packages.

Based on the THS/FBB conveyor inspection system, the flat conveyor belt comes equipped with guides to correctly orientate and contain the tubes as they pass through the metal detector head.

The detector head itself is CEIA’s ultra high-sensitivity THS21 metal detector, which works for the detection and ejection of magnetic, non-magnetic and stainless steel metal contaminants. The system uses innovative technology equal to the repetition of hundreds of conventional transits to automatically learn and track the product effect in order to determine optimal operating conditions for each tube type inspected.

FDA compliant, the system is certified fully compatible with food and pharma product handling requirements, as is the protective cover of the ejection area and the container for rejected products.

The supporting structure, metal detector and belt control box are made from AISI 316L stainless steel, providing both durability and hygiene and featuring a superior washdown construction, making the system easy to clean and maintain. The belt for example, can be removed and replaced without the need for tools.

The THS/FBB metal detector for tubular packaged products also features unparalleled communication connectivity performance. The operator can receive verification of the availability of compressed air, successful ejection of the contaminated product and the presence and space availability of the contaminated product container. The system can be remotely managed via connection to Ethernet/Wi-Fi, meaning the operator does not need to present at all times.

Brand protection in the marketplace is one of the most important functions a manufacturer faces. The investment to establish a reputation for product quality can be lost in the event of one safety recall. Metal detection is an effective and relatively inexpensive method of protecting both your customers and brands.
