Metal detection for viscous products

Metal detection for viscous products and liquids

With products such as sauces and soups, metal detection can be carried out at the end of the packing process on finished products. However, this means that if a metal contaminant is detected, a whole unit, together with its packaging will be rejected and thus wastage is increased.

Using a state-of-the-art multi spectrum detector such as the CEIA PLVMS21 inline unit means that a contaminant can be detected and rejected with the minimum of waste. Fast acting rejection valves allow the flow to be momentarily interrupted and the problem to be removed increasing the overall efficiency of your system.

Integrated in-line metal detector

The THS/PLV21 series from CEIA is an integrated solution for the detection and ejection of magnetic, non-magnetic and stainless steel metal contaminants in liquid and viscous products in a production pipeline.

Available in a wide range of standard pipe sizes, the THS/PLVMS21 uses CEIA’s Multi Spectrum technology to detect ferrous or non-ferrous metals as well as stainless steel. It features an extremely fast rejection device that minimises the quantity of product that is required to be removed to clear the contamination. With a wide range of flanges sizes and fittings the PLVMS21 is compatible with many leading filler systems.

Widely used in the food industry, the units are constructed only from AISI 316L stainless steel and food-compatible plastics that are EU and FDA compliant. The rugged design is IP69K rated and is suitable for use with high-temperature liquids and in high pressure wash-downs environments.

Easy Cleaning & Maintenance

Ease of cleaning is vital for this sector so all parts of the equipment that come into contact with the product are easy to disassemble, quick to clean and fast to reassemble, giving minimal production downtime.

The multi-spectrum metal detector unit features CEIA’s auto-learn feature. This allows it to explore the whole spectrum of available frequencies in order to determine the best operating conditions. This results in unique detection performance with the highest possible sensitivity.

Controls can be integrated into the plant control system and data stored allowing for full quality control monitoring and event data management.
